COP on the Hill: Stories from the week of Sept 22, 2023

Weekly Activities:

Finally; A robust week:  17 presentations to staffers, the majority of whom were asking questions about how better to treat someone addicted to heroin/fenti…note; every staffer knew someone who is now dead from an OD.

Politics:  the MORE Act was introduced this week…it would de-schedule marijuana (making it a 10^th Amendment controlled issue) and sadly, contains lots of paragraphs instructing all 50 states how to handle the legacy of MJ prohibition.  This language despite the knowledge that those paragraphs guarantee minimal Republican support and any chance of it become law. Democrats know this and IMHO do not want the federal prohibition to end any time soon.  So Sad!!
