COP on the Hill: Stories from the week of October 27, 2023

Weekly Activities:

Elevator Pitch:  I recognized Dr. Burgess coming down the hall of Rayburn.  I asked if I could walk him to his office.  “Sure.”  30 seconds later, I learned he had worked in a methadone clinic while a young doctor and would look favorably on the bill to increase access.

Refreshing: CMan Lawler came early to the Grover meeting and 4 of us had a solid chat for 5 minutes.  It is unusual for me to have the chance to just chat about lots of stuff with a Member.  Of course, I inserted the idea of 10th amendment for MJ and promoted greater access to treatment/methadone for citizen addicts.

Not for Nothin:  COP cracked 5,000 presentations to Congressional Staffers this week.    It is a solid, good feeling in my soul to have had the chance to possibly have an impact at the federal level.  As my knee becomes weaker, my spirit is soaring as high as ever!   Many, many thanks to all who have helped me on this journey.  Your moral and or financial support are crucial.

Law Enforcement’s voice in opposition to current policy is vital on the Hill to achieve a repeal of federal drug prohibition. COP provides that voice. www.citizensopposingprohibition.org ( to donate by Internet)
