Takes a Village: A large shout out to my friends at Marijuana Moment. This week they posted that House Majority Leader Scalise (R-Louisiana) claimed that marijuana was a “gateway drug” and led to serious problems later.
The same day I was in the House for meetings. I went to his office in Cannon. I spoke to his legislative assistant. I gave her a fact sheet containing 8 published studies in the USA that state that MJ is NOT a gateway drug. Moreover, I pointed out that in fact; the use of medical MJ has reduced the use and abuse of opioids in published studies.
As I essentially pointed out her Boss was wrong as rain, she did not smile, rather she scowled. The other two young staffers kept their poker faces on. Thanks! MM
Movin’ on Up: 6 years ago, I met a very young staffer, barely out of college. 7 years later I asked for another 15 minutes, of course ignorant I met before (I have made over 8,000 Congress presentations since 2005). Jack remembered my presentation from 2019 and agree to meet this week. He was a very mature man and the Legislative Director for the Congressman.
After catching up, I gave him some updates on the issues and a glimpse of coming attractions, if the Democrats win the House. I was honored and grateful he remembers our 2019 meeting.
